Owey Island (Oileán Uaighe)
For an off the beaten track adventure,
Owey Island is uniquely remote, with no ferry service.
I charter a RIB from Burtonport Pier to take us around the coast, passing many other uninhabited Islands en-route, myself and our skipper will give you lots of information about life on these Islands and the many shipwrecks that lie beneath the waves.
I will take you around the Island to visit the old School House, Post Office (which my cousin owns) and to the highest point on the Island for a excellent view of the land and sea below.
If you're agile enough and ok with dark tight spaces, I can guide you beneath the ground to sea level, to visit the 'Lake under the Lake', with the option of paddling to the end of the Cavern.
Owey is a hot spot for rock climbers and sea kayakers, with outrageous granite cliffs & sea stacks. Bring water and a packed lunch, there is no shop on the Island.
This Island tour varies time wise, depending on which experiences you wish to indulge in.
