I can do my tours bilingually and encourage everyone to try a 'cúpla focal i nGaeilge', this is a safe space for attempting a few sentences and exploring local Irish history and culture. 

Here are a few of my favourite 'Cois Mara' related words & useful phrases : 

Smugairle Róin = Jelly fish, translates to Seal Snot!

Sea Stack = Staca Mara

Sea Arch = Áirse farraige

Oiléan = Island

Cliff = Binn

Turadh  = The lull in a rainstorm

Rón =  Seal. A shoal of Seals = Scoil Rónta.

Feamnach = seaweed

Creathnach, Duilisc = Dulse, edible seaweed

Carraigín = Carrigean moss  

Cúan Mara = Sea Urchin 

Beirneach = Limpets or Barnacles

Faochagaí = Periwinkles

Crubóg = Crab

Gliomach = Lobster

Iasc = fish

Sáile = salt water

Scadán= Herring

Bradán= Salmon

Míol Mór = whale

Corr Mhónadh = Heron 

Fuipín = Puffin

Faoileog = Seagull

Tonnaí or Tonnta = waves

Deilfín = Dolphin

Madadh Uisce = Otter

Madadh Rua or Sionnach = fox

Bád = boat

Light House = Teach Solais

Maith Thú = Well done!

Comhghairdeas! = Congratulations! 

An féidir leat snámh? = Can you swim?

Ná habair é! = Don't worry about it!

An féidir liom ceist a chur ort? =

Can I ask you a question?

GRMA = Go raibh maith agat (Thank you!)
